Brum’s Christmas Reindeer Trail
I’ve always enjoyed visiting sculpture trails, ever since I saw the Snowman Trail in London many years ago. So, when I found out that Birmingham had its own Christmas-themed sculpture trail this year, I couldn’t resist checking it out. The idea of exploring the city while hunting for festive sculptures felt like the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.
The trail, called Brum’s Christmas Reindeer Trail, features nine beautifully decorated reindeer sculptures placed at different spots around the city. Each reindeer has been designed by a local artist, making every stop unique and full of charm.
Brum’s Christmas Reindeer Trail was created by Central BID Birmingham, which works to improve the city’s central shopping and leisure area, along with Wild in Art, who are experts in organizing art trails.
Four of the reindeer sculptures are sponsored by Colmore BID, the Frankfurt Christmas Market, Hortons’ Estate, Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, and Ice Skate Birmingham.
The reindeer names come from the famous 1823 poem 'A Visit from St. Nicholas' (commonly known as 'Twas the Night Before Christmas) - Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph.
Trail maps are available at several points throughout the city centre and you can pick one up at a point nearest to you. There is no specific order in which the trail needs to be done and its up to you on which route you prefer to take.
You can also download the trail map and have it ready on your phone as you go Reindeer spotting this Christmas!
