The Falcon has served as a rest stop for travellers journeying between Warwick and Birmingham for centuries. It is believed that there has always been (going back to the 16th century) a tavern or an inn on the site where the Falcon is today. Its strategic location made it a favoured stop for refreshments and lodging for travellers passing by. Though the establishment has evolved over the years, it has preserved much of its historic character and traditional English pub charm.
Chef Krishnapal Negi, a celebrated culinary professional, with an impressive career spanning several decades is the man behind The Falcon's Indian menu. He has honed his skills in some of the most prestigious kitchens around the world including the Oberoi Hotels (India), 1947 London, Rasoi (London) and Tangawizi. He is known for his mastery in combining traditional cooking techniques with innovative flavours, creating unique and memorable dining experiences.
At The Falcon at Hatton, Chef Negi has brought his extensive expertise and creative vision to the menu, offering guests a remarkable blend of classic and contemporary dishes that highlight the best of Indian and British cuisine. And this was one of the reasons for our visit to The Falcon.
Accommodation at The Falcon at Hatton
The accommodation at The Falcon at Hatton is, adjacent to the pub, in a separate building that was once a barn/grain store. Parking is conveniently available right outside the rooms.
There are six double and two twin en-suite rooms, all with breakfast included. The rooms are also pet-friendly for an additional cost of £10 per pet, per stay. Whether you are travelling for business or pleasure and whether you are in for a short stay or a longer break, the accommodation at The Falcon is a great choice.
We stayed in one of the Double Rooms and it was a good sized room. The space was thoughtfully designed, combining comfort and practicality. The bed was neatly made with fresh linen and was comfortable to sleep in. The room was kitted out with essentials like tea and coffee making facilities, a mini fridge, a desk & chair, a small television for entertainment, free Wi-Fi, a pedestal fan, hairdryer and an iron & ironing board.
The en-suite bathroom was clean and a good size, featuring a separate shower and with all necessary amenities (fresh, clean towels and toiletries).
Overall, it was a cosy and well-equipped room, perfect for a relaxing stay.
Dining Experience at The Falcon at Hatton
Krishna’s is the modern Indian restaurant located within The Falcon at Hatton. It offers authentic and wholesome Indian cuisine crafted by award-winning chef Krishnapal Negi, inspired by his birthplace, the Indian Himalayas.
Krishna's Indian Menu features a selection of authentic Indian dishes, each one packed with flavour and colours.
We visited the restaurant on Father's Day and there was a special Father's Day Menu on that day. It was a menu that combined classics from both Indian and British cuisine. For the starters, we tried Warm Garlic Mushrooms Toasted Ciabatta (a delightful blend of flavours and textures) and Chicken Tikka (perfect balance of spices and a hint of tanginess from the yogurt). Both were great.
For the mains, we opted for Paneer Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken. It was served alongside freshly baked Naan and Pulao Rice. Both the curries were cooked to perfection. They were delectable with a perfect balance of creamy, tangy, and spicy flavours. The sauces were velvety and luscious, making them indulgent and satisfying dishes. Both finger-licking good!
A satisfying end to our dining experience came by the way of Gulab Jamun - a much loved Indian dessert known for its rich, sweet flavour and delightful texture. The warm Gulab Jamuns were served with Vanilla Ice-cream and offered a burst of sweetness with every bite. We loved it. Great food and a lovely dining experience.
The drinks menu was inviting and in addition to a variety of local and international beers, you’ll find a selection of expertly crafted signature cocktails, alongside classic favorites. I tried Falcon's Herb Garden. The crisp gin base was beautifully complemented by the floral sweetness of elderflower. Fresh cucumber slices, lime and lemon, plus a sprig of rosemary infused subtle herbal notes. It was a vibrant and aromatic cocktail and I loved it.
The next morning, the breakfast service was also good. Sitting in the cosy, welcoming atmosphere, we started our day with steaming cups of coffee and tea, paired with a simple, freshly made warm breakfast. It set the tone for the rest of the day.
Overall, our dining experience was great. The food was delicious and the service of the restaurant staff was efficient. They were attentive but unobtrusive and made sure that all our needs were met promptly.
When the weather is lovely, you can enjoy your food & drinks in the outdoor seating area.
There is even the option for 'Dome Dining', an all weather option, where you can enjoy an unique and exclusive outdoor dining experience in a 360-degree crystal clear dome.
