Cocktail Masterclass & Lunch at Revolución de Cuba
We recently booked and attended a cocktail making masterclass at Revolución de Cuba in Birmingham. Revolución de Cuba have more than 15 venues across the UK in major cities like Liverpool, Glasgow, Cardiff, Leeds, Southampton, Bristol, Aberdeen, Manchester and more. Our experience was booked at their Birmingham location.
Revolución de Cuba's bars are characterised by their Cuban-inspired style (of the 1940s) with traditional bar counters, colourful antique tiles, vintage furniture, Havana-style retro ceiling fans and original Cuban artwork and photographs adorning the walls. In addition to all this, a rum-led cocktail range with a Latin-inspired food menu, Cuba-inspired afternoon teas and authentic live Latin music adds to the atmosphere.
The Cocktail Masterclass which is organised for a group size of atleast 8 members seems to be a popular experience offered by Revolución de Cuba. We booked in April for our experience in June.
The booking process was simple and the team at Revolución de Cuba made a note of our dietary requirements very early on during the booking stage. We received a reference number for the experience and an email a day before the experience to pre-order our lunch.
On the day of the experience, as we made our way inside the venue, we were greeted warmly by the staff and shown to a table near the bar. Once all the participants booked in for the experience had arrived, we were ushered down to the bar where the friendly barman had everything set up and waiting for us.
A delicious welcome drink awaited us and as we all settled down and enjoyed the drink, the barman explained what was included in the experience. We would learn how to make three different rum-led cocktails, including a Classic Mojito and our choice from Espresso Rumtini, Sex on the Beach and Zombie (a combination of three Havana Club rums, Wray & Nephew Overproof rum, Supasawa, orange, passionfruit and strawberry).
The whole experience turned out to be a lot of fun. The barman was lovely and made everyone feel relaxed. All of us enjoyed the cocktail masterclass.
We ended the masterclass with a Rum & Ting shot!
We were then shown to the dining area where we enjoyed a two course, delicious Cubaninspired meal. I had opted for 'Verde Enchilada' (soft flour tortillas stuffed with peppers, onions, refried beans, mushroom, spinach & courgette, covered in tomato sauce, cheese & pico de gallo) while Bhavin chose 'Paella Vegano' (paella rice with tenderstem broccoli, courgette, mushroom & mixed peppers, topped with pico de gallo) as his main course.
For desserts, we had shared between us a 'Chocolate & Clementine Torte' (served with chocolate sauce) and 'Classic Churros'. Both were delicious.
Overall, we enjoyed the whole experience. It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
