Sightseeing Cruise on the River Thames with City Cruises
City Cruises offer a number of different cruises:
- Lunch cruise
- Afternoon tea cruise
- Jazz dinner cruise
- Evening cruise
- Elvis tribute cruise
- and seasonal cruises like Valentine's Day dinner cruise and Valentine's Champagne evening cruise and more!
We made use of City Cruises' River Red Rover Pass which is a 24h river pass - an all-day hop on, hop off Thames ticket offering unlimited access to the river cruise for 24 hours. Ticket holders can get on any of City Cruises' sightseeing boats and explore the sights of the Thames at their leisure.
When we visited, the Greenwich Pier was closed and so we went for the sightseeing cruise between Westminster Pier and Tower Millennium Pier.
The boat had comfortable seating, hot and cold refreshments available onboard and guided commentary was provided by one of the staff. It is an all-weather sightseeing boat, so you get good views from the top as well as from inside.
The sightseeing cruise departed from Westminster Pier and took us past some of London's popular attractions - including London Eye, Royal Festival Hall, National Theatre, Tate Community Garden, Shakespeare's Globe, HMS Belfast - on the way to Tower Millennium Pier from where we had wonderful views of Tower Bridge.
It is a wonderful and comfortable way to see the best of London’s top attractions without worrying about the crowds and also availing of excellent photography opportunities along the way.
If you are looking for a 'touristy' thing to do in London or simply want to experience London from an alternative perspective, give the sightseeing cruise a go.
At the time of writing this post, we are back in lockdown, there are travel restrictions and in accordance with the current lockdown, City Cruises are closed until February 15th 2021. But once it is safe to travel again and the lockdown has been completely removed and if you are heading to London, give the sightseeing tour a go.
