The Cavendish London | A luxurious hotel in Mayfair, London
At the beginning of the month, we made our way to London for a short stay at The Cavendish London.
The Cavendish London, located in the heart of Mayfair, is a deluxe four-star hotel. The hotel re-opened in August (after the lockdown was eased) with new social distancing rules in place to keep both the guests and staff safe.
As we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by the General Manager (with an elbow bump) and talked through the changes at the hotel. All staff members had appropriate PPE, physical distancing protocols were in place, permanent floor markers had been placed as visual guides, contactless hand sanitiser stations had been installed at the entrance and various other locations - these were some of the new measures put in place. Our temperature was checked and after a quick check-in, we made our way to our room.
Our stay at The Cavendish London
As we walked into our room at The Cavendish London, we were greeted by stunning views of the London skyline, including the London Eye and the Shard. So beautiful!
We stayed in one of the Executive Rooms on the 14th floor and it was equipped with all the amenities expected from a 4-star hotel. With a spacious, King-sized double bed, the room featured stylish and elegant decor. Amenities included HD TV, free WiFi, air conditioning, tea & coffee making facilities, iron & ironing board and an en-suite bath (and power shower) with luxury toiletries.
A number of new protocols were in place (due to COVID) - cushions and bed runners were absent as were magazines, paper pad & pen. And there was no minibar. But this did not affect our stay in any way.
The room was clean & spacious and with the right temperature and a comfortable bed, we enjoyed a great night's sleep.
Other accommodation at The Cavendish London
In addition to the Classic, Superior and Executive rooms, the hotel also has on offer spacious, beautifully decorated Junior Suites and two Penthouse Suites, all of which are located on the 15th floor. One of the Penthouse Suites has an outdoor balcony as well.

Dining at the Petrichor Restaurant
Petrichor Restaurant is The Cavendish’s 2AA Rosette restaurant and is a great place to begin your day with a hearty breakfast as well as the perfect place to enjoy a scrumptious afternoon tea. At the Petrichor Bar & Lounge guests can enjoy their drinks or a pre-theatre supper.
Our stay at the hotel coincided with the launch of Rosa’s Afternoon Tea, a brand-new offering inspired by The Queen of Cooks and the former owner of the hotel, Rosa Lewis.
It was a fantastic afternoon tea. We enjoyed a variety of sandwiches, fresh & warm scones and a selection of amazing pastries alongside the finest Champagne. You can read our thoughts on Rosa’s Afternoon Tea here.
Breakfast, the next day, was equally good. COVID restrictions meant that there was no buffet-style breakfast and the number of tables in the restaurant had been reduced to maintain social distancing guidelines. But the overall service was excellent.
The restaurant is also providing 'grab & go' breakfast boxes as an alternative to existing breakfast offerings, currently.
