Two Night Cabin Break at Lee Valley Campsite | Review

Buyagift is the UK's leading provider of experience days and gift experiences with more than 4000 gift ideas currently listed on their website. They offer everything from spa breaks to days out for families, from immersive experiences to helicopter flights and from afternoon teas to glamping breaks.

Recently we got the opportunity to try out Buyagift and after much deliberation on what to pick, we zeroed in on one of their short breaks - a two-night cabin break at the Lee Valley Campsite in Sewardstone.

Redeeming the Buyagift voucher

The whole process from the purchase to redeeming the voucher was pretty simple. Once you have purchased the gift experience on the website, you are sent your voucher either by post or by email. We opted for the email mode. The voucher was sent to us instantaneously. And then all we had to do was log on to Buyagift's website, enter the voucher details and contact the experience provider (Lee Valley Sewardstone Campsite in our case) to book the experience.

After an initial hiccup with the booking process, which was looked into by the helpful customer services team from Buyagift, we had our booking for the 2-night cabin break at Lee Valley Campsite confirmed.

The Cabin

The cabins at the Sewardstone Campsite are nestled amongst the trees in a mature woodland and offer accommodation for up to four people (two adults, two children). The cabins are kitted out with a triple sleeper bunk bed, a single foldaway camp bed, microwave, a single hotplate, TV, a coffee table & chair, a fridge, kettle and other crockery and cutlery. These cabins are ideal for those who want to enjoy a break in the peace and quiet of the countryside but want more comfort than a camping tent.

Facilities onsite include heated shower blocks, toilets, a site shop stocking all essentials, children's playground etc. You can also hire cycles, fire pits and crockery boxes.

The check-in process was quick and simple. We handed over our booking confirmation email and the lady at the reception checked us in. We were given a quick briefing on the layout of the campsite, the facilities and then handed the keys to our cabin.

After checking in to our cabin and a quick cup of tea later, we were off to explore the woodland trails.

Our experience

We enjoyed our stay in the cabin at the Lee Valley Campsite in Sewardstone. The campsite is ideally located to explore the Lee Valley Park (which we did) and getting to London is also very easy. Bus 215 takes you to Walthamstow Central, from where you can either take the underground /overground trains into central London.

What we liked the most about this campsite was how green and peaceful it was. Although in Greater London, it is tucked away from all the chaos of city life. It is a lovely and tranquil spot, surrounded by greenery and River Lea nearby. There are excellent walking and bike trails which we made the most of. The whole experience was good and we would love to do it again.

In terms of pricing, the Buyagift voucher is priced at £109 and includes two nights' accommodation in a cabin for up to four people. The voucher validity is for 10 months. If we were to book the same directly via the Lee Valley website, it would have worked out to £130 (High season, £65/night) which makes the Buyagift voucher good value for money.

  1. This looks like an awesome trip! I didn't realize that there was so much nature and so many hiking trails so close to hand to the Greater London area. Great pictures - this looks like a place I'd love to visit!

  2. The thing I like about Buyagift is that the experiences are exchangeable. If you can't find a convenient venue for the experience you got, you can change it for one that works better for you. I've done it before and the process is easy.

    1. Yes, they are flexible on that front. And the customer service team is great (based on my own experience with them).

  3. I have used Buyagift twice, both presents for my wife. Some time ago it was a helicopter lesson, my wife loved it and the lesson was about 40 - 45 minutes instead of 30, it cost about £100, if I remember and I think well worth it. The other, which was recently, a make your own perfume experience, it was good, but my wife has her favourite perfume and so she wasn't that interested. By her own admission it was well done and they were helpful, but she just recreated her favourite perfume.

  4. What a lovely place to stay! I've used BuyAGift a few times myself and it always has such a great selection. I would much rather give and receive experiences as the memories from those last so much longer than a material item!
