The Mini Jen Travel Bag from Mia Tui

Picking the perfect piece of travel bag can often be a challenge. Factors like where you are heading to, for what duration and what you intend to carry as well as your style preferences would play a key role in choosing the perfect piece of luggage. A few weeks back I had the opportunity to pick a travel bag from Mia Tui.  

Mia Tui was founded in 2010 by Charlotte, a mother of two who was living in Vietnam at that time. Charlotte set out to design a travel bag that could be (in her own words) the busy woman’s best friend and thus was born Mia Tui - a range of bags that is stylish yet completely practical.

As someone who loves to travel at any given opportunity, I’m always looking out for well-made travel bags that I can take on our holidays/weekend breaks. So I was happy when the chance to review one of Mia Tui's travel bags arose.

The Mia Tui range of bags are stylish, very practical and made with high-quality fabrics. The best part is they do not use any animal based products making the range suitable for Vegans. The fabric used in making the bags is soft and supple and looks like leather but is entirely a man-made fabric. Mia Tui bags come in a range of sizes and colours. I picked the scarlet Mini Jen to test out and it was the right choice as it turned out to be the perfect fit for my petite frame.

The Mini Jen is a slightly smaller version of the 'Jennie' travel bag from Mia Tui. Both the bags have the same design and feature a number of useful features. Made with an ultra-soft faux-leather and with a water-proof interior, the bag has a number of pockets, an insulated bottle holder, clip for keys and also two accessory bags - a clear internal bag with hand strap and a clutch bag with strap (in the same colour as the main bag). A hands-free shoulder strap is also provided.

Having used the bag during recent weekend breaks and our holiday to Kent, I can report to you that this is an excellent bag for travel. The Mini Jen is the perfect size for me. I like that it can be carried as a shoulder bag and if need be can also be worn cross-body. The key feature is that the bag has a place for everything - be it your phone, pen, water bottle, or your keys. Organising is very easy with this bag because of these pockets. In addition to all these compartments, the bag itself is very spacious. The Mini Jen has been my 'go-to' bag over the last few weeks and it is big enough to hold all my travel essentials - my iPad (with its protective case), sunglasses, wallet, my travel book, medicine kit etc. with enough room to spare. Compared to my old travel bags, it is much easier for me to locate items inside this bag with the contrasting turquoise interior also working to this effect.

The see-through bag that is provided is the ideal size to carry skin care products, fragrances etc while travelling. It is big enough to carry a week's worth of skincare products and because it is transparent, it is very easy to find anything you need instantly. Easy to wipe down and keep clean as well.

The matching clutch bag is such an excellent idea. It is perfect for carrying your travel documents, cards, money or any other important bits that you might need when you arrive at the airport or at your destination. I also liked that it came with its own strap enabling you to wear it crossbody.

Another well-thought of feature is the 'pass-through pocket' on the back of the bag that slips over the handles of your suitcase making the travel bag fit comfortably on top of your suitcase. Genius! Makes it so easy to breeze through the airport!

Overall, the Mini Jen is a wonderfully made travel bag. It is a classic silhouette but with a lot of added functionality. It is deceptively spacious with a large central compartment and a number of pockets to keep all your travel necessities organised and easily accessible. And the scarlet colour is simply gorgeous! But the best part - Mini Jen is priced at just £52 which is a very good price for such a really well-made bag.
