A Glamping Break At Wigwam® Holidays Brampton
Post our holiday at Thurston Manor Leisure Park, we headed to Brampton (in Cumbria) to spend a couple of days at Wigwam® Holidays Brampton. Located in an elevated position, with beautiful views over a private lake, the Wigwam® Cabins at this Wigwam® Site looked like an idyllic location for a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of a big city and it turned out to be just that.
Wigwam® Holidays was launched in 2000 and they currently have a presence in more than 60 rural locations across the UK. The company's core vision as stated on their website is 'Great Holidays in the Great Outdoors'. The Wigwam® Sites are located all over the UK in diverse landscapes such as stunning wilderness (in the Isle of Lewis), rural working farms, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, idyllic wooded valleys (like the Tehidy Wigwams® in Cornwall), seaside towns, on shores of beautiful lakes, close to the coast (like Wigwam® Holidays Great Tregath) and overlooking mountain ranges. For the family that loves the outdoors, these Wigwam® Sites are excellent locations to enjoy nature and the outdoors while staying in a comfortable Wigwam® Cabin. A fun family break with an escape to nature and a few creature comforts included!
Set within New Mills Trout Fishing Park, Wigwam® Holidays Brampton is a beautiful, tranquil site and has excellent scenery with a stream-fed lake at its centre. There is a fly fishing lake which is open all year round as well as a smaller fun fishing pond. There are six, heated, en-suite Wigwam® Cabins sit on the site all in an elevated position. One of these is a 'hot tub' Wigwam® Cabin with a wood-fired hot tub. There is also a café on-site called the Bite café that serves locally sourced and freshly made snacks and meals. A range of hot and cold drinks are available as well.
We stayed in one of the running water deluxe Wigwam® Cabins - Mill Beck. The cabin can sleep up to 4 people and had a double bed and double sofa bed both with memory foam mattresses. There was an en-suite shower room. The kitchenette was kitted out with an electric (2 hotplates) hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and a fridge. Crockery including cutlery, bowls, dinner plates, side plates, mugs, chopping board etc. was provided. A dining table with four chairs and a flat-screen TV with a DVD player were also provided. A key and important aspect for me was that the cabin had 1) running water and 2) heating which ensured that the cabin remained at a comfortable temperature even at night.
We had pre-booked a bedding pack and this was handed over to us on our arrival. The bedding pack is priced at £15 and included 2 pillows with pillowcases, flat sheet and duvet with cover. You can pre-order other extras like pan pack, external lanterns, towel pack etc. while booking.
Outside the Wigwam® Cabin is a private decking area with a picnic bench. A fire pit/bbq are also provided. The fire starter pack and logs can be purchased at reception or can be pre-ordered.
There is plenty to see and do near Wigwam® Holidays Brampton. Lanercost Priory is just a little over 2 miles as is Talkin Tarn (a glacial lake). For those who love walking, Gelt Woods an RSPB nature reserve is around 4 miles away. Hadrian's Wall and Birdoswald Roman Fort are under 7 miles away. Carlisle is around 12 miles. We went further afield and drove to Keswick (around an hour's drive).

We enjoyed our stay at Wigwam® Holidays Brampton. Would we stay again? Definitely, yes. Living in an urban environment, we really appreciate the chance to escape to and explore the countryside. The Wigwam® Cabin was comfortable, more glamorous than regular camping while still allowing one to enjoy the great outdoors.
As the evenings set in, it was wonderful to sit outside the Wigwam® Cabin watching the birds flying between the trees with a noticeable increase of chirping. The stillness of the pond added to the beauty. We could feel the peace of nature surrounding us. The setting was fabulous. We could easily have spent many more days at Wigwam® Holidays Brampton delighting our senses and souls.
The staff at Wigwam® Holidays Brampton are all very friendly and extremely helpful. David, the manager, and all the other staff we encountered made us feel welcome throughout our stay.

We feel that Wigwam® Holidays are a great way for couples or small families to explore the outdoors. The Wigwam® Cabins are comfortable and warm (making them suitable for all-weather) and they are good value for money as well.

Brampton looks wonderful. It would be even more gorgeous if it was sunny with blue skies! The place looks so great it's like having your own property, doesn't feel like it's a hotel. Everything around just feels super homey! Would love to get here!
ReplyDeleteAs a glamper, this is definitely my kind of outdoors trip! Wigwam Holidays looks like an excellent choice, and with so much great landscape to see too. I've not been to any of these places, but have seen photos ie of Carlisle. I'll remember this if I ever want to glamp in wigwam! Thanks for sharing this post.
ReplyDeleteAll of their sites are located on beautiful landscapes. They even have sites on Shetland Island!
DeleteI've never tried glamping but I've been reading a lot about it recently and after seeing your beautiful pictures now I'm dying to do it! What a place! I can only imagine how good it would feel to wake up in such a paradise!
ReplyDeleteIf you enjoy the outdoors but aren't keen on pitching a tent, then glamping would be perfect for you. These Wigwam® Cabins are excellent and perfect for small families and couples alike.
DeleteWigwam holidays Brampton seems like an relaxing stay at a truly idyllic location. The surroundings seem almost reminiscent of the 'Shire'. I also like the fact that it is located not too far from the Hadrian's Wall, as that is one place I've always wanted to visit in the UK.
ReplyDeleteThe word Wigwam itself evokes images of the wilderness in the midst of pristine nature. Still remember the geography lessons which spoke about Wigwam as the dwelling units of Red Indians. But seriously, the Wigwam Holidays Brampton look like a wonderful getaway in the lap of nature. The beauty of it is you do not compromise on luxury and yet are able to live so close to nature.
ReplyDeleteWigwam® Holidays have sites all over the UK and in stunning settings. And the cabins are comfortable. If you want to be close to nature but are not interested in camping, then Wigwam® Holidays are an excellent choice.
DeleteYour first picture of fishing lake and then waterfall has won me over for this Wigwam holidays. I love green grass landscapes, nature and these kind of beautiful landscape and I can spend hours and hours in this kind of holiday. This holiday is worth try because there are all luxury and amenities with nature and free from any commercialization. It is on my list during my UK visit.
ReplyDeleteThat is a stream which runs through the site. Looks beautiful and listening to it just fades away all stress.
DeleteWe stayed once (not this location) for 2 nights and we had 2 wigwams for 6 of us including kids. The fire pit and BBQ were the highlight. Everyone enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteIt's kinda nice place to stay. In Scandinavia, where I live, we often stay in places that are simple and functional. That one is exactly like it, the design is a bit different though. And the area is cool, really worth seeing.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is just idyllic! Such a lovely place. Am dying to go. It kind of reminds me of Hobbiton, but without the Hobbit holes.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is such a lovely place with hypnotic beauty. It looks like a scene from some fantasy movie. From the little cozy bed of the Wigwam cabin to the breathtaking landscapes - everything is magical about this place. I would so love to stay here and enjoy the visual treats of nature. Thanks for sharing these amazing photographs.
ReplyDeleteOne of my all-time favourite parts of the UK. I've never been a massive fan of camping but this makes me think I could get on board with glamping. The fact that there's heating definitely wins me over!
ReplyDeleteThere's heating and there is an en-suite as well! You should give the Wigwams a try.
DeleteThe nature looks amazing there! I've never been exploring UK, but if I do, this would be definitely on my list!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty little getaway! It looks so quiet & relaxing there. :-) I'd love to visit with a pile of books and a laptop (maybe even without wifi!) to get some writing done.
ReplyDeleteThere is no Wi-Fi. However, like you mention, I did get some of my writing work completed there.
DeleteThat's a great glamping scenes dear, lovely experience. Thanks for the share.
ReplyDeleteWigwam Holidays looks an absolute choice for people who prefer luxury in a rustic landscape. It is one of its kinds. I loved the cabins. The night view of the cabin with the forest is really fascinating. Would love to experience it someday.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful spot! I love the idea of "glamping", and I had my first glamping experience last year in the Lake District. We stayed in a yurt - after reading your post I think my next experience should be in a Wigwam! x
ReplyDeleteWow, yurt holiday in the Lakes. That must have been fabulous. And yes, you should try a Wigwam® Holiday next time.
