7 unmissable things to do in Jersey, Channel Islands
On a visit to Jersey, there are certain attractions, activities and places that you should not miss out on. Here are seven such unmissable things to do in Jersey based on our recent visit to the island.
Steeped in history the Jersey War Tunnels, in St. Lawrence, are one of the island's most popular tourist attractions. The tunnels are informative, interesting and thought-provoking at the same time. You can spend a good few hours here and it will give you an understanding of the difficult times the people of Jersey underwent during the war.
Lighthouses are fascinating. And located on the south-western point of Jersey in St. Brelade, is the Corbière Lighthouse - one of Jersey's most photographed and iconic structures. When viewed from the coast, the lighthouse on the tidal island looks very dramatic and stunning - the rugged coastline, the causeway with rock pools on either side and the whitewashed lighthouse standing tall against the blue background. All of it is very beautiful. We walked to the lighthouse at low tide and it was lovely. We liked it so much that we went there on 2 different days to enjoy the dramatic setting. Definitely a must-see for any visitor to Jersey.

It is a 1:25 000 scale quality print paper and is folded with a street map of St Helier on the reverse side. Great to explore the island.
Mont Orgueil Castle
Overlooking the harbour of Gorey (on the east coast of Jersey) is Mont Orgueil Castle which has been a witness to many of the key events that have shaped Jersey’s history. Some sections of the castle have uneven paths and there are some steep steps as well but a visit to the castle is definitely recommended. The views are stunning and the castle gives you a real insight into the history of Jersey.
Stay at Hotel de France
For personal comfort and excellent service, book yourself in at Hotel de France - a family owned property set within 11 acres of private land. The 4 Star hotel is in a good location, within walking distance of the St Helier town center. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable and afforded far reaching views across the town center of St Helier right up to the coast. The hotel offers a variety of restaurants, spa facilities (Ayush Wellness Spa), a state-of-the-art gym and a hydrotherapy suite. If you are looking for a hotel with style & character and one where the service is warm & friendly, then Hotel de France is an excellent pick.
Fine dining at Bohemia
There are a number of enticing places to eat and drink in Jersey but for an exceptional fine dining experience, Bohemia should be on the top of your list. Bohemia is the 4AA Rosettes and 1 Michelin Star restaurant of Jersey's luxury boutique 5-star hotel, The Club Hotel & Spa. It is headed by Chef Steve Smith who has created an outstanding dining experience with his flavour driven tasting menus. We tried the Vegetarian Tasting Menu and it was delightful, capturing the brilliance of the chef and his team.
Durrell Wildlife Park
Now known as Jersey Zoo, the wildlife park is a must visit if you are in Jersey. Home to more than 130 species (including mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds), the main focus of the zoo is conservation of endangered species. Spread over 32 acres, the wildlife park is very popular with locals and visitors alike. The recent TV series 'The Durrell's' has only added to the popularity of the place. An excellent attraction for the whole family.

RIB Boat Trip with Island RIB Voyages
A RIB trip is a perfect way to explore the coast of Jersey. Island RIB Voyages are one of the longest established small charter boat companies in Jersey and they offer day trips to Sark, Herm or Chausey and shorter duration trips to one of the outlying reefs Les Ecrehous or Minquiers - ideal for seal and dolphin watching. If you have never been on a RIB trip, then this is a must try. It is absolutely brilliant and an amazing experience. We went on a 3 hour trip to Les Ecrehous and it was one of the highlights of our visit to Jersey.
We had a lovely holiday in Jersey a few years ago and the highlights were the war tunnels and Elizabeth Castle
