Ardencote Hotel and Spa in Warwickshire
Located in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside on an 83-acre estate is the Ardencote Manor Hotel. Ardencote is a short drive from Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick and combines a lovely setting with spa & leisure facilities and a Conference Centre making it ideal for both business and pleasure trips.
The grounds of the hotel were beautiful - well maintained and relaxing. There was a nice lake too with a number of waterfowls. A children's play area is located near the lake and there is a garden terrace and a Palms conservatory too - essentially lots of places for guests to explore and enjoy.
We stayed in one of the Standard rooms in the Courtyard part of the hotel. The room was spacious, airy and done up in neutral colours. Amenities included a 28″ LCD television, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board and free Wi-Fi. It would have been nicer if bathrobes and slippers were also provided. These are available in Superior rooms and Suites.
The bed was comfortable and the en-suite bathroom clean.
Dinner in the 1 Rosette Brasserie was relaxed and informal. For starters we opted for Roast Butternut Squash soup which was delicious. The risotto of grilled Artichokes, Sage and Spinach was filling but a little too strong on flavour. This was followed by desserts - I went for a selection of ice creams and sorbets while my husband opted for Brasserie Baked Alaska with Raspberry Sauce. Both were a nice way to round off the meal.
Breakfast, the next day, was also in the Brasserie. The service was prompt and attentive and the food good.
Ardencote offers extensive spa facilities including a spa relaxation lounge, spa tranquillity room, indoor heated swimming pool and loungers, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room, outdoor heated swimming pool and an outdoor hot tub too. The hotel also boasts of an 18-hole golf course that is set in 83 acres of parkland.
If you fancy both spa and golf, then Ardencote offers a Golf and Spa relaxation break. The package includes one night’s accommodation, use of the 18 hole golf course, a three course dinner, a scrumptious full English breakfast, use of the spa facilities, unlimited refreshments in the Spa Lounge and a ‘Golfers Energising Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage’. The price for this package is £250 per couple (based on two adults sharing a twin or double room). The price is accurate at the time of writing this post. If you plan to book this package, please contact Ardencote for the latest price.
Ardencote is located on the outskirts of both Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon making it ideally located to explore several well-known attractions. Some of the crowd-pleasers are Warwick Castle, West Midlands Safari Park, Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford Butterfly Farm and Shakespeare's Houses (Shakespeare's Birthplace, Anne Hathway's Cottage, Nash's House and New Place, Hall's Croft and Mary Arden's House and Museum).
Hatton Locks, a series of 21 locks and a part of the Grand Union Canal, is around 10 minutes away by car. The views up and down the lock flight are beautiful and not to be missed.
