From Poole(UK) to St Peter Port (Guernsey) on Condor Ferries

We recently travelled on Condor Ferries from Poole to St Peter Port. St Peter Port is the capital of Guernsey and most Guernsey holidays begin from this town as it is home to the main port on the island.

As a foot passenger we needed to check-in 40 minutes prior to departure and the process was quick and smooth. The staff at the check-in counters were pleasant and helpful and within a very short time of arriving at the departure area, we were handed our boarding cards and we proceeded for the security check and boarding. Upon embarkation, we were promptly directed to our seats.

Condor Ferries has a range of seating options. Depending on the ferry you are travelling on, you could choose from:
1. Standard Seating: Comfortable seating either on the lower or upper deck with easy access to all the on-board facilities.
2. Reclining Seats: You can book a reclining seat for a small additional supplement. You can also upgrade on-board if these seats are available.
3. Club Class: If you prefer more comfort and privacy then you can opt for the Club Class. The Club Class is a private area with comfortable reclining seats. There is a steward service on fast ferries and you are offered a selection of muffins, tea, coffee and drinks.
4. Cabins: On overnight journeys on some ferries, cabins are available. Cabins are either 2,3 or 4 berth with en-suite facilities.

We travelled in the Club Class and it was a pleasant experience. The seating was comfortable and the stewards made sure that all passengers were taken care of.

The ferries have a lot of on-board facilities like a children's play room, a cafeteria, bar, and of course the duty-free shop. A good place to grab some bargains as most of the items were priced lower than in mainland UK.

The onward journey was a bit rough due to bad weather. However, the captain and staff ensured that all passengers were made comfortable. It is another story however that I managed to fall severely ill during the last leg of the journey and had to be rushed to the hospital as soon as we reached Guernsey.

The return journey was smooth and pleasant with the weather not playing up. Disembarkation was also a quick affair and managed very well. Clear directions were given and everything was managed efficiently. The 3 hour journey was great throughout; right from checking-in to disembarkation. Condor Ferries are an ideal way to travel to the Channel Islands from UK. The short journey time on fast ferries and  the fact that you can take your vehicle along makes ferry travel better than air travel to the Channel Islands.

You can view the ferry timetable and book online on Condor Ferries website.
