Norwegian Fjords Cruise Holiday with MS Marco Polo
MS Marco Polo is an 'adult only' cruise ship that is currently under charter to the UK-based Cruise & Maritime Voyages. The ship offers cruises from the UK to South America during the winter months and UK to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean during the summer months. The ship sails from many departure points in the UK.
There are a total of 8 decks with a range of public areas, open deck spaces and cabins.
There are different grades of accommodation and fifteen categories of cabins and suites based on the deck position and the size of the cabins. You could choose from an economical cabin like the inner cabin which doesn't have any outside view but is comfortable and impressive nonetheless or opt for ocean view cabins with windows or portholes.
All cabins are provided with bottled water which comes at a charge. You can also drink the water from the taps which is chlorinated but potable. The rooms also have a personal safe for your use. The bathrooms have a built in hair dryer and electrical sockets for shavers. Complimentary extra benefits are provided in the higher end cabins. The premium suites offer a walk-in wardrobe, a mirrored dressing table, a separate living room with a refrigerator and a music console.

- Swimming pool is located on the Magellan deck and there are 3 small whirlpools on the Navigator deck. Pool towels are provided in each cabin.
- There is a Duty Free Gift Shop which is open while the ship is at sea. The shop stocks on fragrances, cosmetics, liquor, cigarettes, apparel and local souvenir items. If you purchase any liquor or cigarettes, these will be delivered to you on the last day of the cruise.
- There is a snall library - the Livingston Lounge Library which stocks a decent selection of books, magazines, playing cards and some games.
- A Medical Centre on the Baltic Deck offers medical care and service at a charge. You need to ensure that you have a proper travel insurance as these charges are not covered by NHS.
Apart from the above the ship also has the Nansen Card Room for card game lovers, an Internet Café and a photo gallery where you can order pictures and videos from your cruise.
Every evening your cabin steward will deliver to your cabin the Daily Programme guide which lists out useful information like - arrival and departure times to ports of call, the excursion departure times, meal times, evening dress code, events and activities for the say etc.
The ship has two options when it comes to dining:
- Waldorf Restaurant (with an early seating and a late seating for dinner)
- Marco's (with a buffet option for breakfast, lunch and dinner)
You can opt for whatever suits your preference while booking your cruise tickets. If you have opted for dining at Waldorf restaurant and then decide to eat at Marco's, you can do so too. You just need to inform the Reception desk so that your table can be used for other guests. The meal times are printed on the daily programme guide that you receive while cruising. You can inform the cruise operator at the time of booking about your dietary preferences.
The Shore Excursion desk and the Future Cruise desk provide all the information you need about any of the on land excursions you are booked into and information about future cruises on Marco Polo.
Marco Polo takes cleanliness very seriously and has numerous hand sanitizer dispensers all around the ship. Apart from this, the Bistro and Restaurant staff also wait at the entrances to the dining areas
with sanitizer bottles. They do take their cleanliness and health issues seriously.
The crew of Marco Polo is very friendly. Whether it is at the restaurant, Bistro, lounging area, on outer decks or the cabin stewards - all are polite and helpful. The crew in the kitchen/dining department is predominantly Indian and they are very jovial and helpful as well. The serving staff is mostly comprised of Indians, East Asians and some Europeans. They are a very friendly bunch as well.
Marco Polo offers a range of entertainment programmes for the travellers every evening ranging from Ballroom dancing to Jive/Boogie, Quiz programmes, Craft sessions, guest lectures, fitness workouts, Golf sessions, Bingo and beautiful performances by the talented show team.
