Honeymoon - just the word is enough to conjure up images of idyllic romantic days together; celebrating your union as a couple. Since it is the start of a life together as a couple, it is imperative that you spend some time to plan your honeymoon. If you have the time and means you might consider travelling around the globe. But if you prefer to honeymoon in the UK, then fret not because the UK has some really beautiful romantic getaways where you can enjoy your special time together.
Scotland - Scotland has a lot of variety to offer. You could book yourself into one of the luxurious castle hotels where you are sure to be treated like royalty or opt for a self-catering cottage with more privacy. In either case, you could enjoy the beautiful scenery of Scotland - taking in the magnificent views of mountains and valleys and the rugged coastline or visit any of the magnificent castles in Scotland like the Balmoral Castle, the Fyvie Castle, the Inveraray Castle or the Eilean Donan Castle. If you both are of the adventurous kinds then you could go hiking, climbing or go to one of the small islands to the north of Scotland. And don't forget to sample some of the world's finest whiskey at one of the many distilleries that are open to the public or try out a gin tasting tour in Edinburgh.
Wales - At only a two hours distance from London, Wales is another lovely option for honeymooners. There are numerous resorts along the coast as well as luxury hotels in the urbanised areas. You could choose where to stay based on your likes. But you are sure to be surrounded by natural beauty wherever you go in Wales because most of the areas are designated as "Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty". There are numerous National parks with stunning views of the coast and mountains. Depending on the month of the year you are travelling in, you can also try your hand at scuba diving. You are sure to be enamoured by the beauty of the underwater world - the corals and the beautiful sea life. Wales also has a number of historic heritage railway lines that are still operational. A ride on one of these is sure to leave you with images of stunning scenery. With something for every budget and taste, Wales is a wonderful place for your honeymoon - a place where your love is sure to blossom.
Devon and Cornwall - These two are England's most loved counties for a reason. They offer a mix of the old-world traditional charm and modern appeal. There are loads of attractions to choose from and a marvellous outdoor to explore. Cornwall boasts of the longest stretch of continuous coastline in England with some amazing, award-winning beaches (my favourite is Porthcurno Beach) and the views of the dramatic cliffs are sure to leave you wanting for more. You can visit historic ports and harbours or saunter around in quaint little market towns. If you want some excitement you could head to the mining settlements or the smuggler's cove. If you travel inland, Devon has lots to offer - lovely thatched villages, miles and miles of wilderness, open moorlands and lots of country pubs. It could be a unique honeymoon if you are up to it.
Whatever place you choose as your honeymoon destination - whether it is a laidback relaxed holiday or an adventurous one, the time spent together will leave you with a lifetime of beautiful memories.
