Dona Marinera - The Fisherman's Wife in Lloret de Mar, Spain
At the end of the Lloret beach is a small rocky hill on which stands the statue of Dona Marinera. The Fisherman's wife as the statue is referred to; is one of the prominent symbols of Lloret town. The bronze statue was created by Ernest Maragall and erected in 1966 to celebrate Lloret de Mar's millennium.
Its a beautiful statue of the fisherman's wife looking out to the sea probably waiting for her husband to return. Locals believe that if you look out into the horizon while touching the foot of Dona Marinera then whatever you wish for will come true!
