England to Scotland - A journey through the highlands
We are just back from a week long holiday to the highlands. Visited Fort William, Inverness and Isle of Skye. Fort William is not only gaining prominence as a tourist hub but is also considered the outdoor capital of UK.
I will be writing in detail about all the places we visited in later posts. However here is a quick bit about what the trip was about.
- Travelled from London to Fort William via Yorkshire. Halted for a night at the Holiday Inn at Garforth.
- A day of leisure at Fort William exlporing the lovely town and its surroundings. Our stay in Fort William was at the Croit Anna Hotel.
- A full day excursion to Inverness. It was an absolutely lovely journey along the Great Glen and past Loch Ness.
- A full day excursion to the Isle of Skye. The journey again was awesome. The scenery was breathtaking and we spent some time at Portree - the capital of the island.
- On the return journey travelled through Lancashire and halted for a night at the Thistle (at Haydock).
Watch out for more.
