The Lord Mayor’s Show 2010 in London
This weekend we are heading to London to enjoy the Lord Mayor's show. It is the world’s oldest civic procession and will be held this year on the 13th of November.
The procession is over 3 miles long and features 145 groups.
The Lord Mayor’s procession this year will include 150 horses, 21 carriages, 20 marching bands and over 6000 people.
Some of the groups taking part as listed below (in no particular order):
1. Band of The Grenadier Guards - one of the world’s premier military bands
2. Cadet Guard of Honour
3. The London School of Samba
4. Band of the RAF
5. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home
6. INdia - J&K Tourism Department
7. The Cook & The Butler Event Company
8. Lions Club International
9. London Fire Brigade
10. Royal Marines
11. Dogs Trust
12. The Kings Troop RHA
13. HCMR Band & Escort
Here is a route map of the procession
To mark the end of the show a magnificent firework display is put up on the river Thames(time: five o’clock on the 13th of November). The display includes more than half a tonne of giant fireworks, some of which shoot over 600ft into the sky before exploding. This surely sounds awesome. So dont miss it.
