A Visit to the Butterfly Farm in Stratford-upon-Avon
What do you do if you are visiting Stratford-upon-Avon and have only a couple of hours on hand? You visit the Stratford Butterfly Farm. It is a lovely place where you can watch colourful butterflies flying around in an exotic tropical environment.
Because it is a covered attraction, you can visit it/enjoy in any weather. In addition to the butterflies, the farm also has a few birds (parrots, cockatiel and quails), a green Iguana, a Caterpillar room (with some of the world's hairiest and largest caterpillars), Arachnoland (with a collection of scorpions and spiders) and the very interesting Insect City. The Insect City is home to Giant Asian Mantis, Giant Fruit Beetle, Veiled Chameleon, Armoured Ground Cricket, Malaysian Leaf Katydid, Dead Leaf Mantis, Flower Beetle and many others. Our favourite from this section were the Stick Insects - they come in various sizes and colours, some are thick and some are thin but all of them are excellent at camouflaging. Amazing insects!
Admission charges for 2015 are: Adults £6.25, Seniors and Students £5.75, Children 3-16 Years (under 3's free) £5.25 and Family (2 adults & 2 children) £18.50.

Butterfly Sanctuary
The greenhouse is beautifully landscaped and is the largest tropical butterfly display in the UK. It has splashing waterfalls, a fish-filled pool, tropical foliage and over 1,000 free flying butterflies. And it is a beautiful experience when one of the butterflies decides to land on you.All weather attraction

Opening times and admission prices
The farm is open daily except Christmas Day. The opening times are 10.00 am to 5.00 pm with the last entry to the farm at 3.30 pm during December 2015. Getting there
The butterfly farm is centrally located in Stratford-upon-Avon, just five minutes walk from the town centre. It is well sign posted and located opposite the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
